The Siberian squill or Scilla siberica , is very hardy and vigorous plant. It is multi-headed and produces 3 to 4 flower per stem. Wiry stems are topped with up to five nodding, bell-shaped, true blue flowers. Accompanied by slender, strap-shaped, glossy, mid-green leaves, these are much loved by bees and bumblebees.
Siberian squills are perfect for naturalising in lawns and areas of semi- shade, particularly beneath deciduous shrubs and trees. Siberian squill are perfect for naturalising in drifts, rockeries, gardens, woodlands, and pots. Large swathes of blue Scilla siberica (Siberian squill) are a common sight in the early spring (Feb-April) and can be planted from September to December.
These brilliant blue flowers are very easy to grow and maintain and are Deer and squirrel proof. This sweet little plant thrives in any well-drained soil and settles in as a perennial in most gardens.
