In the depths of winter, we all need a ray of sunshine. Our Dorothy crocus will appear from early spring onwards with its stand-out golden yellow flowers.

Plant in September/December about 5 cm deep and 3 to 5 cm apart. Let crocus bulbs do their own thing in groups between the shrubs. It should be remembered, however, that crocus bulbs have a tendency to 'grow upwards'. A crocus bulb forms a new tuber on top of the old tuber. This means that after a number of years the balls will lie on top of the ground. If this is observed, carefully dig up the bulbs and plant them again at the desired depth.

They are slightly scented and can be used for naturalising under trees, in the grassland, rockeries, beds and borders, and containers.
They bloom in the sun as well as in the shade and come in many colours.
If the weather is bad, place the potted crocus bulbs in a sheltered spot, for example under a shelter, so that you can enjoy the flowers for longer.
