PART-TIME CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSISTANT

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly Customer Service Assistant to join our team at Carpenders Park Garden Centre.
This is a varied role that can be either shop floor-based or office-based, depending on the daily requirements of the business.

You will be the first point of contact for our customers — greeting them warmly, assisting with their enquiries, and ensuring every visitor has an excellent experience. You will also help manage customer communications by phone and email, and support the smooth running of our loyalty scheme, website orders, and sales promotions.

Main Duties Include:

  • Greeting customers and making them feel welcome as they enter the garden centre

  • Signing customers up to our loyalty scheme

  • Advising customers on products and horticultural queries

  • Assisting customers to identify the best products for their needs

  • Answering phones and taking customer orders

  • Handling website queries and online orders

  • Managing and maintaining the Sale Sign Archive

  • Supporting general retail and administrative tasks as needed

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail

  • IT literate (basic Microsoft Office and email)

  • Good numeracy and literacy skills

  • Friendly phone manner and confident communication skills

  • Physically capable of lifting and positioning stock when required

  • Honest, reliable, and self-motivated

  • Able to work under pressure and as part of a team

  • Passionate about delivering excellent customer service

 

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • Good horticultural or plant knowledge

  • Experience in sales or retail

 

Role Details:

  • 4 days per week (including weekends)

  • Part-time hours
