Hedera hibernica, commonly known as Irish ivy, is a vigorous evergreen climber valued for its dense growth and broad, glossy dark green foliage. Its large, five-lobed leaves provide year-round colour and excellent coverage, making it particularly useful for clothing walls, fences and other structures, as well as for ground cover in difficult areas. Small greenish flowers appear in autumn and are followed by black berries, providing seasonal interest and a useful food source for wildlife. Tough, adaptable and tolerant of both sun and shade, Irish ivy is an excellent choice for creating evergreen screening and covering large areas.
