It's also known as Tulip 'Madame Lefeber', This tall yet sturdy tulip produces huge flower heads which are made up of silky red petals which open outwards as the plant matures, revealing purple-black centres neatly outlined with vivid yellow, with plum purple anthers. The perfectly formed cup-shaped blooms are complemented with sword-shaped foliage in asubdued green.
Plant late in October and November with the colder weather (it helps wipe out disease, too.)
